I began my yoga journey began 20 years ago, when I was working in fashion and living in Japan. I was suffering with bad posture and always knew that I had to do something about it, I was also feeling extremely home sick, having left my native Georgia at the age of 15 and at times suffered with depression. One afternoon I read on the internet about yoga and its benefits for the body and mind, the power of the moving meditation so I decided to buy my first DVD of Power Yoga. After doing my own first self-practice, I almost immediate noticed that my back felt far stronger and was straighter. Not only that, my mood was immediately lifted, blissful and calm.
After moving to London I found myself craving new challenges, so I began attending a yoga studio in Camden, where I met my first guru, Stewart Gilchrist. This soon took my practice to another level, where I began to understand more about the technique of Udjai breathing and ashtanga vinyasa became part of my daily practise.
After practising with my guru for over 15 years, I decided it was time to change career and move from practitioner to teacher. So in 2018 I took the plunge and went to Goa, India to study for my 200 hour teacher training at “Sampoorna” Yoga. After returning to the UK, the pandemic started, so I moved out of London to Buckinghamshire where I began teaching private lessons. Then in 2022 I started to teach group classes and fell in love with my new career even more.
In 2024 I decided it was time for my second teacher training, as I wanted to go deeper into the philosophy, anatomy and pranayama. In April I spent a month in the holy town of Rishikesh in the foothills of the Himalayas with the “World Peace of Yoga School”, where I went deeper into traditional and authentic yoga and spiritualism. On the banks of the Ganges I learned more about the magic of pranayamaa, meditation and Kryas with daily meditation classes.
Today I continue to practice with my guru as well as passing on this wonderful practice to others. I teach ashtanga/vinyasa flow and pranayama at 'Everyone Active' in Amersham and at Gerrards Cross in Buckinghamshire. My style of teaching combines empathy, enthusiasm, meditation and positivity to help to achieve personal goals on a yoga journey. My classes focus on correct alignment using sensitive adjustments and thoughtful encouragement, whilst maintaining a close focus on breathing and the way it supports the practice.
I very much look forward to seeing you at the retreat.
Much love,
